Board of Directors Meeting
September 16, 2004

Location: Lake County Public Library

Present: Sue Brown, Cassandra Rozycki, Mike Wilson, Mike Stiles, Pat Rhodes, Karen Lansdowne, Linda Kovacs, Lawrence Giannetti

Attendees stuffed the September 2004 INSTEP edition for distribution at Oz 5k

Meeting called to order by Sue at 7:25

Motion by Lansdowne to approve August minutes as read, 2^nd by Rhodes

REPORTS:

President

• October 2004 edition of INSTEP will be distributed at Pumpkin Prance 10/16
• Accepting 2005 membership ($15 / $7.50 additional family members)
• Chicago Marathon mile 5 water stop volunteers - sign up sheet at races
• CDC still has not paid GC fee
• 2005 Race Director
• Packets will be distributed via internet - must download from web site
• All 24 of the 2004 GC races will be invited to apply again
• Future of Progressive Marathon - need more detail on what assistance they are seeking (Brown)
• AAU meetings and meets are posted
• GC fees - tabled for October meeting
• Race (current $165)
• Series (current $20)

Vice President

• Slager quilt should arrive first week of October
• Waiting on update of windshirt production/shipping
• Based out of Mobile, AL (Hurricane)
• Can't schedule printing until arrive
• Mike Jones will write article for next INSTEP about Dances With Dirt
• Tent
• Getting new quotes for 10 x 20 - will distribute at later date
• Look at existing tent before next meeting (Rhodes)

Secretary - not present (Rozycki taking minutes)

Treasurer - not present (per Brown)

• Bob Stevens balance $8,026.41
• Jim Cox balance $4,140.70
• 3 of the 4 2004 scholarships have been paid out
• Strider balance $12,668.20
• Paid for numerous orders like Strider Wear that will lead to inflow of funds upon sales of goods

Webmaster

• Back up and running
• Need to reactivate links to previous year(s) race results
• Possibly retrieve tracking data of hits to provide to race directors

COMMITTEES

Gold Cup

• 7 still in running for JC 2004 award (Aguilera, Brown, Klaeser, Garza, Myroup, Rotz, Wilson)
•  247 GC members to date (per Wilson)
• Christmas Party
• December 10 @ Family Life Center Merrillville, IN
• Need to compare pricing of this year to last year (Lansdowne)
• Insert/invitation will be printed and ready for the 10/16 INSTEP distribution
• Decoration budget needed (Kovacs, Lansdowne)
• GC Banquet
• January 22 @ Villa Cesar Schererville, IN
• Have facility from 4-11 pm
• Email invitation pricing info to Slager (Rozycki)
• Invitation will include invite, envelope, return postcard, map
• Draft invitation (Rozycki)
• Cost to CRS will be $18.50 per person
• $500 Deposit check for Villa Ceasar written and given to Lansdowne
• Allow parties to reserve table for 6-10 people
• Award quotes provided via email from Bensen-Harvey
• Need to get actual samples of awards (Bensen-Harvey, Rozycki)
• Rules & Bylaws
• Rozycki needs electronic copy (Wilson)
• Changes will be input in bold, copies will be distributed to Board prior to October meeting

Sponsorship

• Create/update committee members
• Develop levels of sponsorship - list benefits (Lansdowne)
• Encourage members to advertise their business through CRS sponsorship
