Mary Zemansky

LaPorte County Member-At-Large

I was born and raised in Northern California, and I have been running off and on since junior high school. I have always enjoyed sports and been athletic, so my interest in running to increase my performance was a given.

My first race was the Run for Shelter in 2001, and I am currently on the Board of Directors of that organization. The purpose behind my running is stress management and my love for it. This season, I want to increase my distance beyond four miles and work toward a half-marathon (if possible) next year.

Other interests include martial arts; I've been doing Tae KwonDo for fifteen years. Also, I have a home in Sedona, Arizona to which I regularly escape. And I have an interest in potbellied pigs- particularly the one who allows me to live with her (Snort, 30 pounds of attitude who runs only to her food dish).

I am a new Strider member and this will be my first Gold Cup series. As a board member, I would like to expand our LaPorte County membership and work toward sponsoring a race here next year. Also, I live 1/2 mile from a private beach which is great for running - all are invited to come over and try it out!
