Treasurer

I was introduced to running when my daughter, Milagro, joined the Trail Blazers Track Club in 1987. I served as Secretary of that Club. As one of the "Runner Moms," I attended many road races, AAU meets, and TAC meets, locally and throughout the country. Later, my other daughter, Marialena, also joined the Trail Blazers. With two runners in the family, I wanted to share in the fun. In 1989, I ran my first road race, Festival of the Dunes in Chesterton. The following year, I joined the CRS Gold Cup Series and have managed to run enough races to receive an award at our Annual Banquet for the next ten years.

Because of running, I met my husband, Jesse. Milagro and two of Jesse’s nieces competed at an AAU Junior Olympics in Florida. Jesse and I were both there to cheer them on. They found success on the track and we found each other. When I met Jesse, he was raising his three children. I, too, was raising my three children. We have a "blended" family. Our children are Jesse Ruben, Lisa, and David Bernal, and Milagro, Marialena, and Rebeca Dominguez. The oldest three are on their own now, while the youngest three reside with us in Hobart (New Chicago).

As a member of the Calumet Region Striders, I have been keeping our membership roster current to provide data for mailing labels and newsletters. As treasurer, I will continue that task along with any financial responsibilities.
