Vice President
I have been a resident of Northwest Indiana for most of my life. Currently, I reside in Chesterton.
While in college I would jog around the block. Most of my free time was spent training on my bike for the Tyson Chicken cycling team. Upon graduating and entering the real world, I found it difficult to dedicate time to cycling. On the snowy Christmas Eve of 1996 I caught the running bug. Because of my lack of physical activity in the previous year I no longer considered myself an athletic individual. I bundled up and struggled to complete one mile. Each day I would add a little on to my run. My first race was the Flurry Scurry 5k out at the Chesterton YMCA. My finish time was 25:36, and I placed in my age group. Hardware Baby! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my self finishing a marathon. I now have six medallions in my bookcase.

2003 was an amazing year. Another successful Gold Cup Series, 2nd place in the Valpo and LaPorte Triathlons, a half Ironman, and my first trail marathon. I'm still working on a sub 22:00 5k, and toying with the idea of a full Ironman.
I joined Calumet Region Striders in 1997. Over the years I have found a second family within the organization; friendships that are irreplaceable and unmatched. This will be my fifth year to compete in the Gold Cup Series.
Besides running, I enjoy triathlons and adventure races. I am a professor at Purdue University Calumet, and am in the process of obtaining my real estate license. I write the "Try-A-Tri" column for the newsletter, hold offices as President for my sorority's alumnae group (Delta Gamma), a committee member for a few Gold Cup races, and enjoy spending time with Sam and the dogs.
As Vice President, I would like to assist race directors in exceeding your expectations for their events. I believe it is also my responsibility to represent Striders and promote our group wherever I go. Throughout the year I welcome your comments and ideas, and will share them with Sue and the other members of the board.
