Not quite an "Incredible Feat"?
by Robert Maszak
On Saturday, February 25th, I entered a duathlon at the Orland Park Sportplex in Illinois. There were four heats of fifteen duathletes in each heat. We ran 1.5 miles on the track, pedaled an exercise bike for ten miles, and then returned to the track for another wobbly 1.5 miles.
The number of females and males seemed about equal. The condition of competitors ranged from walkers to
4:30 milers. This was the fourth straight year that I competed in this event which is a welcome relief from
road racing. Sometimes I think I am getting too old for this as the next oldest competitor was nine years
younger than I am. However, I did win the 50 and over (oldest grouping) with a time of 46:10 combined for
the run and bike and placed in the top ten overall.
