Nicolette Huber Secretary Portage

I am 34 years old, married for 16 years to Brian, and have three charming, enjoyable and energetic boys: Timothy (14), Joseph (12), and Daniel (9). I am a registered nurse and truly enjoy what I do.

I am currently in my fourth year of running in the Gold Cup Series. I have run several half-marathons and 2 marathons and will be training for my first Chicago Marathon this summer. Without the support of my husband and children all this would not be possible. We participate in this sport as a family and enjoy the company of each other.

I volunteer with the Junior Striders in assisting wherever help is needed. Whether it was to help out at practice, stand in the rain getting the kids staged, or planning arrangements for Nationals. To see the excitement and determination on these children proves that anything is possible when your mind is set to it.

I am a RRCA certified running coach. I have trained 4 adult beginning running programs to prepare for their first 5k and 1 group for their first 5 mile race. This experience made me realize how much I love to run. It is not how fast you run, but the joy of accomplishing something you never thought possible.

The people that we meet and the friendships that have been made through the Calumet Region Striders are more like family. We have a wonderful group of people that we run with every week and cheer each other through the good and bad times. Not only has this been a rewarding adventure for us but for our children also.
