I have been a resident of St. John for 18 years and began running because of a family vacation to go snow skiing. My family told me I had to do some kind of exercise to get in shape for the trip. I chose running and I have my husband Joe and my two daughters Amy and Anne to thank for it.

My first race was in 1998, the Duneland YMCA Flurry Scurry 5K, and I have continued to run because it is good for my health. There are a lot of heart problems in my family and it keeps extra weight off.

Even though I will be turning fifty this year, my challenge this season is to improve my time. I have been a Strider member for six years and this is my fourth year participating in the Gold Cup Series.

Part of my responsbilities on the board include helping with the picnic and the Christmas Party.
