Vice President
I was inspired to start running while watching my sister Christine cross the finish line of the Disney Marathon and "high five" Minnie. It was a truly up-lifting experience.
I have been running since September 27,1997. Hospital Hustle was my first race - I had to take walk breaks during this what seemed to be LONG 5K. Since crossing that finish line I describe myself as an addict. Since then I've competed in over 225 races - 14 of which were full Marathons. I have a VERY understanding family that supports this habit of mine - I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. They know that most vacations are centered around a race - they also understand that if I don't run I can become a little grouchy. So even while camping they know as soon as I get back from my morning run we start our day.
2004 was an amazing year for me as I ran 4 full Marathons in 6 months - 2 of which were only 5 days apart (Boston was one of them). Running that marathon gave me a feeling as no other one has. Qualifying at Chicago in 2003 was something I can't even explain. I also had the chance to run in Orlando, Nashville, Vegas, Indy, Cincinnati, South Carolina and twice in New York.
I have run Chicago the past 4 years for an AMAZING organization - Opportunity Enterprises. They are a not-for-profit organization that helps mentally and physically challenged individuals in Lake and Porter counties, Indiana. I have been the top fundraiser the past 4 years with my total reaching over $24,000. I hope to go over the $30,000 mark this year. Helping out others less fortunate then yourself is another one of those unexplained feelings - its so good words can't describe it.
I recently went to Myrtle Beach to become a certified running coach with the Road Runners Club of America. I hope to use all of the knowledge I gained to help out novice as well as experienced runners I come in contact with.
I run -
My motto- "No high gets you higher then crossing a finish line."
As Vice President, I am hoping to assist the board and continue to see our club grow. I would like to get 50 new members. It is a very professional organization. It is run like a business and is successful because of past board members doing such a GREAT job.
