I started running in 1997 when I was 49. My first race was the Friendship Race (at that time in Highland) in July. I joined the Calumet Region Striders in 1998 and, at the Gallery Gallop, Bob Hooper talked me into joining the Gold Cup Series. I had such fun doing all the different races. But the best thing about joining the Striders is all the friends I've made. I've met so many wonderful, caring people and made so many great friends.
I enjoy running a variety of races, terrains, and distances. Some of my most memorable are:
One thing I've learned about runners, doesn't matter where you go, be it down the road or across the country, runners are a friendly lot who LOVE to talk about running. It's the only sport I can think of where the elite and the everyday athlete compete in the same event at the same time... granted the elite are a little faster... but they're out there on the same road as you. WOW!!
May the wind be at your back and you run injury free for the 2005 season. Bring it on!!!
